Emi's Sixty-Third Email! April 18, 2016

This week has been the worst on my mission number wise, but very good
otherwise.

We did lots of service which is a huge blessing, had some
interesting teaching situations, met some amazing people, went to a
baptism.

And of course most important, Sister Fernandez! I loved her
right from the start. She is superb. We are definitely very different
and I think everything I've learned on my mission will come into
practice these next twelve weeks, here it comes. I definitely need to
go to a train the trainers next time though, I think we are missing
some of the basics. I've just kinda thrown her into the normal routine
and she's kept up very well. It is all super natural for her since she
is in her own country, we have already experienced many miracles
because of that.

A young man with much potential came to church Sunday and we are
already planning on teaching two other part member families. Lots to
come this transfer. And our relationship with the members has gone
through the roof since last transfer.

Yeah, like I said last week. Sister F is engaged, 23 ish , looks super
Hispanic and her parents are, but she's lived in the uk and even has a
posh accent. I swear I know a Mexican girl from back home who looks
just like her but I can't remember who. I also recently realized that
all my companions have been a substantial amount older than me haha.
Also, this is such a beautiful place, I will never take it for granted.

Oh haha and I realized they don't do blocks here, that's why it's so
confusing. The streets are all random.

Top 10
1. The Johansens. Saying bye to them was worse than any break up could be.
2. Getting a new missionary. So. Much . Growth.
3. Sister Dalton. So grateful for her example.
4. Seeing people at transfers (Sister Black made me the best planner ever)
5. Bulgarian investigators, holla.
6. Some very beautiful days and snowed over night once haha
7. Service service service! (Cleaning, animal farm, charity shop yeah baby!)
8. Boy's baptism. Takes me back. Also, helps me with the reality of
Josph Smith's truthfulness in the first vision of an innocent, sincere
14 year old boy. Hard to come by these days...
9. Sister F's first week has been soooo unconventional, I feel badly
for when she gets a real companion, oh well. We will have fun and work
so it's ok.
10. So much potential for these next transfers

If anyone knows anything about China (the plates and stuff) and wants
any from this country, let me know and I will get some but be specific
because I know nothing about it!

Got another haircut...why do people insist on cutting so much, a trim
is a trim not a free for all! Fro for days...

I know I still have loads of time, but it hasn't really hit me that I
won't be here much longer. It is so bizarre to reflect. Very weird.
Life is weird, but we know what God has in store at the end, so it'll
all be way worth it. I know it. I'm grateful for it. Good thing

Emi's Sixty-Second Email! April 12, 2016

Monday we chilled with the Johansens because I love them and don't
want them to go. We shopped and talked and wow do they feed us a lot.
Fhe was great, Kristy didn't show to our first fhe....

Tuesday we had district meeting about conference, everyone shared
something. Had chiropractor apt. Saw the zone leaders investigator Bob
and Anita. Then WE SAW JILL FROM OLDHAM and ate at Chiquitos.
Posh imitation Mexican food. So happy to see her. We also taught Kristy...

Wednesday we had service and we are finally teaching someone solid
potential!!! Interesting person, but good hope.

Thursday we had afternoon tea!! It was for Sister Johansen, so posh!!
I pocketed some of the cute jam! So fun! Then we ate more at a members
and set up a service project holla for service.

Friday we had street display, mas Bulgarians!!! Then said stopped by some
people and set up the Johansen surprise party!

In the month Saturday we did more service on a farm!!! So not my thing
and everyone could tell but it was fun! I was super efficient but
unconventional as usual haha. Then the baptism was crazy! Last minute
cancel! Rubbish! And I missed the thing to train the trainers so I'll have
no clue what I'm doing! Haha, but we went to the Johansens surprise
goodbye thing and they had no clue. We said it was about the
restoration. It was decorated really nicely but loads of plans got
shifted around that week so not too many people came..

Sunday we helped the Johansens a lot because they're leaving, did other stuff.

Yesterday had fhe said bye to the Johansens, I cried a lot...
Sorry, I'm rushed but yeah, I've learned more this week. I know I'm
super moody and sassy and not always very kind, but I learned I'm a
bit kinder to people! I also really am grateful for our continual
capacity to love. I love the Johansens so much and we only knew them
for 6 weeks. It's hard saying bye even if only temporarily. I love
Hyde, I love Oldham and I'm lovin Chester. I love loving people even
though there are a very select few people who I like and love, they mean
the world to me. I'm going to try really hard to love my new
companion, but we already still don't have time this week to take a
lunch hour let alone whatever the lame stuff I'm suppose to teach her,
but I warned president!

More lingo:
Pack it in = stop it
Mingin-janky = horrible or dirty
Just a few explanations of our language xxxxxxx
Proper translation from a loc haha whoops

Emi emailed this a few hours later:
Just got the new missionary!!!! I really like her so far! Her name is Sister Fernandez, from somewhere in England....London? Birmingham? Can't remember. She is 23, another comp who is also engaged haha. She seems super chill which is what I need but also confident and capable, also something I need! Plus I think she will tell me if I'm being a jerk and that will for sure compell me to be humble and hopefully kinder, being mean sucks! So yeah, I think we have some good times ahead of us. I  just need to keep myself together! Yay, thanks for the prayers everyone.

Emi's Sixty-First Email! April 4, 2016

I've been really tired. Like all the time. Even when I don't feel
tired, we are sitting on the bus, and I fall asleep. It's sooo annoying.
I'm annoyed with myself, others, just annoyed with being annoyed! But
it's ok. It'll all be ok.

The temple was nice. Wish I could live there. I have a plan to go once
a week once I'm home. We hung out with the senior couples afterward and
some of their friends from the states so that was fun. Fhe. Never take
the temple for granted!

We had exchanges Tuesday and I was reunited with Sister Beard! It's
nice with multiple sisters around. Really helps you. Runcorn is an
interesting area.

Wednesday we came back and had tea at a members,
then had splits. Very successful.

We had interviews, they are just not a big deal to me at all. He told
me a while ago that I would train after this transfer and now that has
been confirmed...please please pray that I'm a good trainer. I don't
want this poor girl to go home because of my attitude.

Our flat got inspected. I have spent loads of time cleaning this
place. It's not perfect, but it's also years old, so there's only so
much you can do, especially with the lack of time we get to do stuff like that.
I have never felt so unChristlike my whole mission toward the person
checking our flat. I'm ashamed of my thoughts.

Please pray for the two girls meant to be baptised Saturday. Not
sure one will happen this week.

Conference, not by coincidence, is the one thing that got me out of my
slump the past two weeks...it helped me learn loads and I got my
questions answered.

Our area has the biggest council estate in Europe haha
We met some vegans who weren't religious because it contradicted the
gospel..interesting perspectives. No point in arguing.

Top 4
1) Conference is the best thing ever
2) Last week with the Johansens...so so so so so sad they are going....
I love them! Last sleepovers...
3) Went to the chiropractor, wow that felt good! Finally got a
backpack as well. So much fashion
4) Did I mention I got an authentic Scottish kilt? Stoked

Also here's some more lingo I've noticed here:
Pack it in- shush up
Mingin- janky/nasty (that's actually from Oldham)
Gone pear shaped- things got messed up
Done to pots- up in shambles (not that I know what that really means either)
What you like?

I have been learning a lot. Learning can be painful. But I'm grateful
for the perspective of the gospel. I met some girls this week and all
I could do was bear testimony to these young girls who think their
lives are already over, counted for naught. I felt part of God's love
for them and only could pray in my heart that they would listen.

My word!! Jess is engaged!!! Congrats! And ya for Connor going to Brasil!!!
